The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, more commonly known as WIC, is a public health nutrition program under the USDA providing nutrition education, nutritious foods, breastfeeding support, and healthcare referrals for income-eligible women who are pregnatn or post-partum, infants and children up to age 5. The program is designed to improve the heatlh and well-being of Forsyth County residents. Who is Eligible

WIC is available to pregnant, breast feeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to age five. You must schedule an appointment to determine your eligibility by calling 336-703-3336 (English) or 336-703-3370 (Español). To participate, persons must:

• Be a resident of Forsyth County.
• Have a family income less than 185% of the U.S. Poverty Income Guidelines. A person receiving Medicaid, Work First Families Assistance , or Food Stamps automatically meets the income eligibility requirement.
• Be at nutritional risk. A nutritionist or other health professional makes the nutritional risk assessment at no cost to the participant, usually at the local WIC office.

Cost

There is NO cost.

There are three satellite WIC Clinics available. One is located in the Downtown Health Plaza on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and is for Downtown Health Plaza clients only. And the third clinic is located at 501 Cleveland Avenue, Suite B.
